RESEARCH ASSISTANT: Ecologistics Research Services provides comprehensive contract product development research services to the Canadian Crop Protection industry.
The role of the Research Assistant is to assist and support the Research Technicians or Principal Investigators in the conduct of residue and efficacy trials.
Duties include helping to establish, plant, maintain, spray, evaluate and harvest trials. Some trials require extensive hand pollination, as well as other activities such as weeding or rouging of off type or volunteer plants. Other duties include basic repair and routine maintenance of equipment such as inspection, lubrication, cleaning and adjustments.
The sampling of trials, as well as processing and shipping of samples to analytical labs are other activities included in this position.
Experience with calibration of planting and application equipment as well as the operation of agricultural equipment would be an asset.
A valid G or D drivers license is required.
In agriculture, weather conditions can dramatically affect work schedules, and as such sometimes the candidate must be able to accommodate changing work schedules.
The ideal candidate will have a well developed attention to detail, must work fluidly as part of a team, have an awareness of personal safety and will take the initiative to independently identify and complete basic tasks associated with the everyday requirements of agricultural research work.
